Easy belt

I call this an "easy belt" because there isn't any pattern making involved. This belt can be ready in e few hours and can be worn in class, as part of a student costume or as addition to your clothes for some extra sparkle.

An easy and goodlooking belt to complete your costume (or wear as a fashion item). Measurement: take your hipsize at the broadest point of your hips and add 10 cm. This is measurement N

Needed:
N cm. of pretty ribbon (like gold or silver)
N cm of sturdy fabric
velcro or hook and eye closures
Coins, or coins on a chain

1. Sew the pretty ribbon on top of the sturdy ribbon.

2. Fold this together with the pretty ribbon inside: stitch of the corner (picture 2). If you stitch of a small corner, the belt will be more straight. A larger corner will give it a bigger bend. If you fold it out again, it looks like picture 3.

3. Wrap it around your hips and pin were you want the closing to be. If you have problems with pinning, ask a friend to help you. Sew down velcro with the machine for durability, or attatch the hook and eye closure by hand. Make sure that they are firmly attatched!

4. Add the coins (see below for directions) or a chain with coins. Important: you cannot attatch a chain with a few stitches; the thread is to thin and wil creep through the little hole in the shackles. you can attatch them with loops made of ribbon or leftover fabric.

Cut small strips of fabric, fold them together (to make a loop) through the chain. Attatch these loops to your belt. You can also make loops from small (2-4 mm. broad) leftover ribbon.
