| Circle skirt Needed: 5,5 m of fabric (non stretch, works best with fabric that drapes well) matching thread elastic for the waist large piece of pattern paper pencil and a piece of string a friend to help you 1. Measurements: hip curcumfence (broadest point of the hips. Multiply by 6: this is measurement A. Measurement from hip to seam of skirt the top of your foot, ankle length, or floor length). This is measurement B. Add measurement A+B to create measurement C. 2. pattern drafting: let your friend hold the end of the piece of string. Put a lrge sqaure of patternpaper on the floor. Tie the pencil to the string and draw a quarter of a circle with a radius of measurement A. Then draw a second circle with radius C. You now have a quarter-circle pattern. 3. use the pattern to cut two halfcircles out of the fabric. Also cut a tunnel for the elastic: app. 6 cm. broad and 10 cm. longer then your hip circumfence. Sew the two half circles together to create one whole circle. Finish edges with a zig-zag stitch. 4.Sew the ends of the waistband together. Pin the circleskirt with the pretty sides of the fabric together to the waistband. Stitch. Fold waistband up, iron seam flat. Fold 1 cm of the other side of the waistband inward and iron so it stays flat. Then fold the whole waistband so it encases the seams, pin into place and stitch 0.5 cm from the edge to form the tunnel. Leave 5 cm open, pull the elastic through and close the seam. |
