| Miniskirt with lace at the sides
A daring miniskirt made out of black lycra and lace. if you want to make it more decent, use purple fabric behind the lace to prevent unwanted looks. needed: 0.55 m. black lycra 0.5 m. purple lycra (optional) 1.0 m. blach stretch lace ribbon, app. 10 cm. broad. 5 mm broad elastic for your waist. how much depends on your waist measurement. 1. Take your hipmeasurement at the broadest point of your hips and distract it with 20 (cm) than divide it by two. this is measurement N. (hipmeasurement-20cm/2=N) Cut out two squares from 50 x N from the black lycra. 2. Cut the lace into two pieces of 50 cm. each. If you're using the pruple lycra to back the lace: lay the two pieces of lace flat on the purple lycra and stitch it together along the edges of the lace (use a stretch-stitch). Cut out the lace and lycra that's stitched together. You'll have two strips with lace on one side and lycra on the other. Take what' left of the black lycra and cut a strip from N cm. long and 7 cm/1.4 inch wide. This will become the waistband. 3. now take a black panel and stitch the two lace parts to the sides. After this, stitch one side of the other black panel to the lace (picture 1). Pin the last seam and try it on. Adjust the seam where neccesary. Stitch this seam too.it looks like picture 2. 4. fold in the lower edge and stitch into place. Take the strip of black lycra, lay it on the outside of the skirt with the good sides of the fabric facing eachother. Use an elastic stitch to sew it to the top of the skirt, about one cm. under the edge.(picture 3) Fold the it up and towards the inside, so the seam you just made will be hidden by the fabric. fold the strip untill the edge lays on underneath the seam you made (yu can still see it from the inside) pin it to the skirt along this seam. Use a small elastic stitch along the edge to secure the waistband but leave a small gap for the elastic. Pull the elastic through and close the gap. Tips: Stretch skirts look shorter when you're wearing them because the fabric tends to gather towards the waist. If you're uncomfortable with the length, add 5 cm. (or ten, twenty, etc...) for a longer skirt. Lycra has a bidirectional stretch. It's very important that you use a stretch-stitch at all times, otherwise the seams might rip'. |
