Green Medieval Gown
Spring 2007

By deciding to go to a Dutch renfair type event I wanted something to wear that would be elegant, suitable for some medieval dancing and with a medieval look to it.

So this is it, I used a commercial pattern and tweaked it a little. I kept the seams in the bodice because they created a nice fit, even though they are not historical correct. I rollhemmed and french seamed the hell outof this, so all edges are neatly finished. Sewing the gold trim was easier then I expected so I was done in time for the fair and din't have to sty up untill 3 a.m. to get things done.

The chemise was made from white cotton and after a spin in the washing machine it turned out two inches shorter then it was. Now there's an easy way to keep your hem clean!
