Striped Corset with Pink Accents
Summer 2007

After focusing more on creating bellydance costumes, in the summer of 2007 I felt the sudden urge to make a corset again. I used Butterick 4254, made it app. 3 inches longer so it would cover my hipbulge and made a few adjustments to the mock-up before cutting into the striped coton fabric. I bought the fabric in Amsterdam in 2006 and it had been in my fabric stash ever since. It was the last yard, enough for a corset and backguard.

The corset has flat steel boning and black ruffled lace around the upper edge. I did an okay job with the pattern matching but in the end I sewed two strips of decorative braid over the two front seams so the corset would look better.
